Hi guys! Updating you with how the art is progressing along.

Made a character in modeling clay yesterday and wanted to show off my hard work (it's not good, but eh). I'm learning that maybe air-dry clay or cold porcelain would have been a better move, since you can make a better slip with it. (that's how you connect joints and smooth out the sculpt). I used an armature of paper clips twisted together, and honestly? Not a bad idea, just not good for heavy clay areas. Paper clips as a wire structure works better for hands.

Anyways here she is!

It's working different parts of my brain trying to do this kinda work so, I'm glad I'm trying to do so. Going to try to do some air dry clay next so I can sand it, paint it and add UV resin eyes!

Until next time!

HI again! I wanted to give you guys an update about how the art process is goin' right now.

I decided to dabble in 2D animation with Blender. Despite the interface being hella confusing, I muddled through several tutorials and made a super sketchy animation test. Keep in mind I had no idea how to change the pace when rendering. But yeah! Quick little animation practice.

Pretty decent for a first attempt, right? I found out comics are just modified animation key frames (in my mind, at least).

Then, I tried some 3D work IRL. First one is a quick soap carving to practice making facial features.

Then, this paper doll thingy? thought it would help to visualize people in 2D space for the style of art I work in!

Not quite finished, but fun to work on.

That's all I have to show for now, but I had a blast trying so much in fast succession! (I did this all in a single day)

Till next time!

Hi! I'm Stephdrawz. I'm a 26 year old artist who's been doing digital art since 2013!

I create cartoony-style of humans, monsters, and humanoid creatures. I make sketches with a 6H clutch pencil then scan it in to Paint Tool SAI for lineart then send it on to Medibang paint for color/effects.

I also make illustrations with pens & inks, Gansi Tambi watercolors, Oil pastels and Prismacolors - I find I can't replace everything with digital, as you don't get the smells and textures you do with traditional mediums.

I'm looking for artist comradery above all else as being an artist is a solitary task, It can be maddening even for an introvert. I'm always open to hear ideas, do art trades, and so on. I'm excited to participate in various collabs with this community. I want to try helping someone with a comic so I can learn how to translate ideas into images.

Warm Regards,

Stephdrawz
